Amy was a graduate of the NB Provincial Normal School at Fredericton NB. She taught grades 1-8 in Carleton, York and Victoria Counties. From 1963 to 1967 she taught grade 2 in Southern Carleton Reginal School. She retired in 1967.
Berturn served in the First World War from 1918-1919. He was a gunner in the Light Horse Artillery, 65th Battery. He was thrown from a horse and injured (a hernia). He was then transfered to the Remounts, a cavelry regiment, and was in Vancouver with the Remounts and their 25 freight cars loaded with horses on their way to Sibera when the war ended.
