John Harvey Yerxa

• Son of Levi Yerxa and Martha White
• Born 11 December 1862 at Lower Woodstock NB
• Lived all his life on the old home farm, at Lower Woodstock, where his father Levi Yerxa and his grandfather John Yerxa had lived
• Died 21 September 1946
• Buried in the United Church of Canada Cemetery in Hay Settlement District of Lower Woodstock
• He was unmarried

John was a very good gardener. He and his brother Allen raised horses. In the winter, they lumbered some and cut wood for their own use.

John was a skilled raftsman and took many a raft of logs down the St. John River in the spring to Springhill, a few miles above Fredericton, where there was a boom. Later, tugs from the Victoria Mills just below the city, towed the logs to the mill. He went to Western Canada on a Harvest Excursion either in 1921 or 1922
