Richmond Corner, about 4 miles north of Debec on Route 540 where it crosses Route 555 from Woodstock to Houlton ME, was probably one of the first settlements in the area as it was settled before 1809. It was the terminus of the St. Andrew-Quebec Railway in 1862, but declined when Debec became a permanent junction.
There were three churches at Richmond Corner: Baptist, Methodist and Presbyterian; each with its own cemetery. There were shops, etc., surrounded by a farming and lumbering area.
