About William Ellery Yerxa

William Ellery "Bill" Yerxa was born 12 May 1926 in Bridgewater ME.

Graduated Bridgewater Classical Academy in 1943, Ricker College 1943-44, Husson College 1947. Received a Bachelor of Science from Ricker College 1950; Master's Degree in Education 1961 from University of Maine; advanced study at University of Maine.

Inducted into the US Army in February 1945. Training at Camp Croft, South Carolina and Camp Rucker, Alabama. Overseas duty in Hawaii and Philipine Islands. Was Staff Sargent with the Office of Chief Quartermaster assigned as historian for the Southwest Pacific.

Taught at Bridgewater Academy 1957-1964; served as principal 1959-1964. Moved to principal of Central Aroostoook High School Administration District #42, Blaine, Bridgewater and Mars Hill from 1964. Retired in 1985 after 30 years in Education. After retirement, worked as office manager of Bradbury Barrell Co. in Bridgewater ME.
