Garland, Elizabeth "Betty" A.
BERWICK, Maine — Elizabeth "Betty" A. Garland, 77, of Morse St., Berwick, died at her home, Sunday, Nov. 25, 2001, following an extended illness. She was born Woodstock, New Brunswick, Canada, on Oct. 1, 1924, the daughter of Spurgeon and Gertrude (Murray) Yerxa. She had been a resident of Berwick since 1956. Mrs. Garland was a communicant of Our Lady of Peace Catholic Church of Berwick and was educated in Woodstock, New Brunswick schools.
She is survived by a son, Michael and his wife, Cindy Allan of Berwick; a daughter, Mrs. Larry (Trudi) Cocarus of Rochester, N.H.; a sister, Maudie Hawkins of Maplewood, New Brunswick, Canada; 10 grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her first husband, Charles H. Allan Jr., who died in 1975; her second husband, William "Bill" Garland, who died Sept. 20, 2000; and a son, Charles H. Allan III, who died in 1994.
A Mass of Christian burial will be conducted Wednesday, Nov. 28 at 10 a.m. at Our Lady of Peace Church with the Rev. Hilary Cameron, pastor, officiating. Interment will be at Evergreen Cemetery in Berwick. Friends may call at the Laing Funeral Chapel, 36 Rochester St., Berwick, on Tuesday from 7 to 9 p.m. Family flowers only.
