F. Byron Gordon of Keswick Ridge, NB passed away peacefully July 30, 2006 at the Dr. Everett Chalmers Hospital, surrounded by his family. Born at Keswick Ridge in 1920 on the farm where he lived and worked all of his life, he was a son of the late Millard and Ethel (Yerxa) Gordon. Byron enjoyed quartet and choir singing, his horses, working in the woods, hunting and talking with family and friends. He was a hard working man who set high standards for himself and his family.
Byron is survived by a daughter, Barbara McGuigan (Mel), New Maryland, NB; a son, Frank Gordon (Debbie), Keswick Ridge, NB; a sister, Margaret Eagles, Woodstock, NB; six grandchildren, Jeff McGuigan (Kamala), Richard McGuigan (Michele), Janice McNally (Ed), Matthew Gordon (Leanne), Joel Gordon (Amy) and Sarah Fletcher (Chad); eleven great grandchildren; several nieces, nephews and cousins.
In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his wife, Muriel R. (Fox) Gordon on March 17, 2004, a sister Leona Blaney and a brother, Stewart Gordon.
Resting at the Keswick Ridge United Church of Canada, 501 Route 616, Keswick Ridge, NB with visiting hours Tuesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Funeral service will be held at the church on Wednesday, August 2, 2006 at 2 p.m. with Rev. Dr. Amos Adeniyi and Rev. Jonathan McKay officiating. Interment will be in Keswick Cemetery. A reception will follow in the fellowship room of the church.
In lieu of flowers the family has suggested donations to the Keswick Ridge United Church, the Keswick Cemetery or the Canadian Red Cross.
Honorary pallbearers will be Dave McAleenan, Glyn Norman, Wayne McNeil, Jarvis Mawhinney, Harold Lawrence, Aubrey McCullough, Elbridge Gilmore, Murray Gordon, Gerald Reed, Harry Gilbey, Fred Kelly and Albert Gordon.
Active pallbearers will be Jeff McGuigan, Richard McGuigan, Matthew Gordon, Joel Gordon, Mark Fox and Kirby Gordon.
