Clayton and May moved from Dugan Road NB to Bridgewater ME where Clayton worked as a labourer. Later they moved to Rumford Falls ME where he worked at a newspaper plant setting type. He later worked as a Stationary Engineer at the Eastern Main General Hospital.
After his girls were married, Clayton married Elsie Hale. Elsie had a farm at New Denmark ME. Clayton worked this farm where they had horses. Elsie cooked at a Summer vacation camp.
Clayton and Elsie spent their last years in St. Cloud FL with some summers in Hampden ME. Clayton died in Florida, his remains were sent back to Bangor for burial there. After Clayton's death, Elsie continued to live in Florida with visits to her children in New Mexico and relatives in Maine.
