Ransom Pratt, farmer and resident of Sun Prairie was born in Otsego Co., NY, 6 May 1823. His father Daniel died when he was 4 years old. Ranson left home when he was 9 years old and worked in Otsego Co. until 1847. He came to Wisconsin in 1847 and settled in Bristol township for seven years and then moved to Medina township. In 1866, he moved into the village of Sun Prairie.
His first wife was Barbara Bentley and they were married in 1846. She died in 1856 leaving no children. His second wife was Elizabeth Yerxa, she was born in New Brunswick and they married in 1858. They had three children -- Barbara, Herbert and Ernest. They were Baptists.
