Carleton Sentinel newspaper of 24 July 1858 states that Cavalier Yerxa died 18th July 1858, aged 36 years in Richmond, leaving a widow and seven children at Union Corner.
Inscription on tombstone “Shephard - son of Cav. & Elizabeth Yerxa died August 18, 1852. Aged - 8 mos.
Tombstone record: “Mary M. died August 17, 1861. Ae. 7 yrs and 10 mos. Patience died July 24, 1861 Ae. 6 yrs and 3 mos. Children of Cavalier and Elizabeth Yerxa.”
