James Yerxa, fifth son of John Yerxa and Catherine (Gerow) Yerxa, was born at Mouth of Keswick, Douglas Parish, York County 19 Apr. 1794. He was a farmer. By his will dated March 11, 1828 his father, John Yerxa Sr., left son James Yerxa the farm that he was living on known as Lot 4 in the Grant. On July 8, 1817, James Yerxa had married Sarah Hawkins and Sarah had been born 5th April 1796.

The dates on Caroline and Zelpha's stone do not agree with the Church Record. It was noted in another Church Record Book that Mrs. Isaac Yerxa (widow) attended Communion, June 20, 1869. The Church would be the Presbyterian Church, McKenzie Corner. Isaac had been dead for ten years.
